Our preschool programs are open to children ages 18 months through pre-Kindergarten.
Toddler/Young Preschool Classes: (Mornings 9:00-11:30)
Tiny Turtles: Children (ages 18 months – 2½ years) are becoming aware of their own bodies, controlling their facial expressions, repeating simple phrases, participating with hand motions to songs, and other major steps in the beginning stages of social skills.
Busy Bees: Children (2-3 years of age) are working on using the bathroom and toilet, with appropriate adult help.
Here they are naturally expanding their vocabulary, learning to use more complex sentences, and conversing with adults and peers. They are working on experiencing the world around them, seeing their peers as friendly faces, practicing using their voices and kind hands, sharing space and objects, and following 2-step directions.
Owls & Foxes: Children (3-4 years of age) should be toilet trained, and needing minimal reminders for hand washing.
Here they begin to practice classroom skills such as hand raising, answering group questions, following group directions, choosing play centers, and completing table activities. These are our Readiness classes, preparing children to transition to Pre-Kindergarten the following school year.
Pre-Kindergarten Classes: (Mornings 9:00-11:30 and Afternoons 12:30-3:00)
Lions & Giraffes: Children are 4 to 5 years of age and preparing to enter Kindergarten in the upcoming school year (Sep 2021). Children must be toilet trained and able to communicate their need to use the restroom.
These classes continue to teach academic and social skills, building on the previous years to prepare students (and parents!) emotionally for Kindergarten. Emphasis is placed especially on social interactions using kindness, and good conversation skills; and also on learning to love learning through stories, games, hands-on math activities, creative art projects, first-person science observation, and more!NLA Extended Day : (Mornings 9:00-11:40 and afternoons 12:20-3:00)
Tigers: Extended day is a great way to gradually prepare your child for a full day of school while further developing their social experiences with expanded opportunities for learning.
Outside of the daily kindergarten classroom, students will have ample opportunities to strengthen gross and fine motor skills, practice math, language/literacy skills, refine cognitive skills, and grow their social/emotional development through play as they work with others during these sessions. This will be an additional opportunity for making new friends, exploring concepts more deeply, and having fun in the process.
This pricing includes time for lunch – you pack a labeled nut-free lunch and send it with the student. Refrigeration is available.
Community Lunch: (11:30-12:30)
Lunch Bunch: students (ages 2-5) bring their own packed lunch (nut-free). Students eat with peers and staff, clean up, and read books or play with class friends. This is a good addition to our programs if you need flexibility at pick-up time. Your child can attend regularly or just as needed.
